The background

My name is Joseph Cain. I'm based in Norwich and I run edcana ai, a consultancy that builds custom AI automation systems for service businesses across Norfolk.

Before this, I spent several years working in the accountancy world. Not as a spectator. Inside it, watching how teams actually operate day to day. The chasing, the manual data entry, the same tasks repeated every week by people who should have been doing something more valuable.

Why AI, why now

In 2023 I went deep on AI. Not the hype, but the practical tools that were actually solving real problems for real businesses. I saw very quickly that the technology had caught up with the problem I'd watched for years. The gap between “this is painful and manual” and “this could run automatically” had basically closed.

So I started building. Systems that handle the admin that was eating into people's time: lead follow-up, quote workflows, invoice reminders, client onboarding. The kind of work that nobody wants to do but that falls apart when nobody does it.

What makes this different

I'm not selling you a platform. I'm not setting you up with a subscription and leaving you to figure it out. I understand how service businesses actually work. The quirks, the edge cases, the “we've always done it this way”. I've been inside them.
